MXGP’s 2027 schedule gained two firmer details in the organizer’s October 15 update. Águeda is confirmed for the Portuguese Grand Prix on May 22–23, while the April 18 round at Mérida will carry the MXGP of Extremadura name. The change gives the new Spanish venue a regional identity on the championship calendar. [1]

Águeda brings an established setting to the spring schedule. The organizer says 2027 will be its 28th World Championship event, continuing a history begun in 1985. Its orange hard-pack surface and natural amphitheater are recognizable features of the Portuguese stop, about 75 kilometers south of Porto. [1]

Mérida joins the European ladder

Mérida’s arrival had first been announced on October 2, with the full race weekend scheduled for April 17–18. Alongside MXGP and MX2, that announcement includes EMX250 and EMX125 racing. For spectators, that means the new event is planned to combine the world championship classes with two stages of the European development ladder. [2]

The Spanish project also has a longer horizon than a single race weekend. Seventy 6 Motion will organize both Mérida and the Andalucia round under agreements running from 2027 through the end of 2029. The shared organizer gives the two Spanish events a common operational partner as Mérida joins the series. [2]

For anyone updating a race calendar, the April event previously announced as the MXGP of Spain is now the MXGP of Extremadura, still at Mérida. Andalucia remains the separate season opener on February 28. Keep names and venues together when comparing announcements, and recheck the organizer’s information before making detailed travel plans. These are 2027 dates, confirmed during the 2026 off-season. [1] [2]
